Describe your day-to-day responsibility and a typical day.
As a facilities tech, I respond to day-to-day maintenance repair requests including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, patching and painting, and heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR). Our team members work together to answer service requests which allows diversity in handling most repairs. Day-to-day responsibilities include, completing preventive and corrective work orders such as cleaning and sanitizing ice/ water dispensers, conducting daily checks or our power plant and boiler room equipment, replacing plumbing fixtures and addressing any plumbing issues that may arise, painting and installing wall protection as needed, troubleshooting the nurse call system, assisting vendors with access to our facility, and maintaining our HVAC rooftop units. We also clean coils, condensate drain lines, and replace all filters as needed according to generated preventive maintenance work orders or as our tracking dictates.
Describe the path you took to arrive in your current role.
I attended building trades vocational school when I was in high school, and worked in the construction industry after graduation. Since that time, I spent the past 20 years primarily employed in the maintenance field. I saw an opportunity to work closer to home and indoors, which brought me to Medxcel at St. Vincent’s Clay County.
Have you taken advantage of training and development offered by Medxcel?
Medxcel provides us with training and development opportunities. My training is typically completed through online modules provided by Medxcel and I recently attended a course offered by Yaskawa Electric Corporation, for continuing education related to frequency drives.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is being able to troubleshoot and successfully repair electrical circuits and HVACR systems, resulting in a critical piece of equipment being back in service. I also love that Medxcel's management team supports our everyday work life balance with a generous PTO package.
How would you describe the Medxcel culture?
The Medxcel culture is very inclusive, diverse, engaging, and innovative. As a company we take great pride in our work. Our team is committed to our customer’s total satisfaction, which is evident in how we respond and resolve their issues and requests. We passed a recent inspection with an outstanding result.
What would you say to someone if they ask you if you recommend working at Medxcel?
I recommend Medxcel as a good place to work with a generous benefits package. A great thing about working at Medxcel is that there is always something new to learn, and the dull moments never last long.
